Use Policy
The BDL Wireless Internet Access supports both 802.11b wireless
protocols. Signal strength varies within the library. Patrons using an 802.11b
card should have Internet access throughout the library although the strength
of the signal will be weaker as you get farther from the Information
Desk.
System Requirements:
- Windows 98, 2000, ME, XP or Mac OS
- Wireless card-802.11b
First time you connect:
- Check to make sure your wireless network card and software are correctly
installed.
- If not already configured, set up your computer for DHCP.
Windows 2000
- Click on the Start > Settings > Control
panel
- Double click on Network and Dial-up Connections
- Right click on Local Area Connections
- Select TCP/IP then click on Properties
- Select Obtain IP address automatically and Obtain DNS automatically
if not already selected
Windows XP
- Click on the Start > Control Panel
- Double click on Network Connections
- Right click on the Wireless Network and select Properties
- Select TCP/IP then click on Properties
- Select Obtain IP address automatically and Obtain DNS automatically
if not already selected
- Open up your web browser. Our Computer
and Internet Use Policy should appear on your screen..
- Review the Computer
and Internet Use Policy and click on "I Agree" .
- Reboot your computer
and you should have an Internet connection.
- After you have gone through
this process the first time you will be automatically connect to the Internet
during your next visit
to the library.
