How does a Poetry Slam work??

Words / Themes are suggested by the whole audience and receive votes.

Poets will have 15 minutes to compose a poem and names will be drawn for order of performance for each round.

Judges will give marks on a scale of 0 to 10 for two categories: poem and performance. Judges will be volunteers (non-performers) from the audience.

Rules for Poetry Slam

• Perform your own work
• Perform in 3 minutes or less
• No props or costumes
• Scores range from 0 to 10
• Respect – you can disagree or agree with respect

Points are not the point – we slam as poets with integrity, passion and performance.

As time permits and as people are interested, we'll also have an open mike session.
