Rules & Requirements

Rules

  • Stories should be inspired by the prompt “This is the End”
  • Participants must be in grades 7-12 to enter
  • Participants are limited to one story submission
  • Stories must be written by one writer: no collaborative projects
  • Stories must be 1-10 pages long
  • Stories must be original creations by the writer: No fanfiction
  • If submitting in person, Short Story Submission form must be included
  • Submission is final once it is received by the library. Updated versions will not be accepted after submission is received.

Stories must adhere to the following formatting requirements.
Stories without the correct formatting will not be considered.

  • Stories must be submitted as a .pdf or .doc file
  • Stories must be typed in 12 pt font
  • Acceptable Fonts: Georgia, Calibri, Times New Roman, or Arial
  • Stories should be double spaced
  • Include header with the story title and page numbers

Teen Short Story Contest Anthology

The library will be putting together an Anthology of the stories submitted to this year’s Teen Short Story contest.  If you would like your story to be a part of the Anthology please fill out and return this permission form to Kate Wheeler, Teen Services Librarian. Authors featured in the Anthology will receive a copy for themselves. The anthology will not be for sale in stores and copies will only be given to participants and a copy for the library’s shelves.
