You can call 1-800-829-3676 to request paper forms and instructions be sent to your address.

How to File:

The IRS offers free efiling of Federal taxes at freefile.irs.gov

United Way offers a Free Online tax filing service at https://www.unitedway.org/myfreetaxes/unitedway

Sadly, this is the time of year when we see a lot of activity from scam artists. Click here for information from the IRS on Tax Scams/Consumer Alerts and from Michigan’s Treasury Department on Tax Scams

Low income individuals in Livingston County can obtain assistance completing tax returns in one of two ways:

  1. Individuals who have the computer capability can load their documents from home, tax returns will be prepared, and the client will receive their returns electronically for review, and will sign electronically.
  2. Individuals can set up an appointment to bring in their documents, have them scanned into secure sites, the returns will be prepared by tax preparers at home, and the client will return at a follow up appointment to review their returns and sign.

Accounting Aid Society:  no drop off site yet established in Livingston County, but clients can call 313-556-1920 or go to https://accountingaidsociety.org/taxpayers/ to schedule an appointment if clients are able to load documents from home.
