Overview of Operation Stages:

Stage 4
January 4 – 
GRAB & GO (30 Minutes or less)
Limited Building Access
Hours:
Mon-Thu, 10:00am – 9pm; Fri-Sat, 10am – 5 pm
Sun – Closed
Building Access
Masks are required. The building will be open to the public regular hours of operation; access to certain areas may be restricted. Visitors will be asked to visit the Library quickly and efficiently (30 minutes or less) to find and check out materials and get help.  Social distancing and safety guidelines will be followed.
In-Library Services
Patrons will be allowed to visit the Library to find and check out materials and get help from Library staff. Depending upon local or state mandates, there may be a limited number of patrons permitted in the Library at a time.

  • Food and beverage are not permitted (unless necessary for medical reasons).
  • Quiet study rooms and meeting rooms remain unavailable to the public.
  • Public computers remain unavailable to the public.

Returns
Patrons should return items in our book returns. Oversized items and kits will be accepted at the service desk. Returned items will be quarantined based on CDC guidance.

Daily cleaning and disinfecting of all high touch areas will be conducted.
Stage 5 LIMITED USAGE CONDITIONS

Building Access Masks are required (based on Executive Order). The building will be open to the public regular hours of operation. Social distancing and safety guidelines will be followed.
In-Library Expanded Services Based on State of Michigan guidelines, patrons will be able to access the building to find and check out materials, use computers and get help. Quiet study rooms will be available. Social distancing and all safety guidelines will be followed.

Returns Patrons are able to return items in our book returns. Oversized items and kits will be accepted at the service desk. Returned items will be quarantined based on CDC guidance.

What do I do with my library materials?
Materials should be returned to the Library’s book return. Returned items will be quarantined based on CDC guidelines.

Is the Brighton District Library receiving materials from other TLN (The Library Network) or MeLCat libraries (“Interlibrary loan”)?
Yes.

Can I place items on hold by calling the Library or by using the online catalog?
Yes.

Can I apply for a library card online?
Yes, you can apply for a card Library Card here.

Can I renew my library card by phone?
Yes. You can renew your library card by calling 810-229-6571.

Can I drop off donations?
No. We will not be accepting donations at this time.

Can I buy materials from the Friends Book Store?
Yes. The Book Store is open during Grab & Go.

Who do I talk to about room rentals?
There will be no meeting room rentals until the Library is in Stage 6.

Can I volunteer at the Library?
No. Volunteers are not being accepted until the Library is in Stage 6.

Will the Library be doing outreach?
No. The Library has suspended outreach services until the Library is in Stage 6.

Previous Stages:

The Library may return to a previous stage at any time.

Library Cards:  Residents who do not already have a library card can submit a digital library card application to receive a temporary library card for access to our resources during our closure. Applicants will need to come into the Library within three months with ID and Proof of Residency to receive full library privileges.
