Class Schedule
All classes are free, and most require pre-registration.
Registration starts 2 weeks before each class.

Drop-in Computer Lab
Every Thursday from 3-5pm (Conference Room)
With the assistance of library staff, ask questions, learn exactly the computer skill you want to learn at the pace you want to learn it, or just practice! Drop in, no registration required.

Basic Computing: Intro to Windows 7 - Monday, September 20, 3 -5pm.
Covers basic elements of the Windows 7 operating system: the desktop, elements of a windows application, how to save and delete a file, creating and manipulating folders. Must know how to use a mouse. Registration begins 9/6.
Downloading and Working with Digital Photos – Tuesday, September 21, 3-5p. Do you have a digital camera, but don’t know how to get the pictures from it to your computer? We will go over how to load pictures onto your machine, and how to organize them into folders. Personal laptops welcome, bring your camera and cables to class. Registration begins 9/7.
Intro to the Internet - Thursday, September 23, 1-3pm. This class will discuss what the Internet
is, what is required to get connected, and how to browse selected sites. Must know how to use a mouse. Registration begins 9/7.
Using Craigslist to Buy, Sell and More - Monday, October 4, 7-8:30pm. Learn to use craigslist.org, a popular website where anyone can view or post classified ads for free. Participants will learn the basics of creating an account, finding, buying and listing items on Craigslist. This class will be taught as demonstration. Registration begins 9/20.
Intro to Photoshop Elements 4.0 – Wednesday, October 13, 2-4pm. Learn how to perform basic editing and enhance your photos using Photoshop Elements. Class will include color enhancement, cropping, inserting text, framing, converting to grayscale, removing red eye and a few other useful tools available in Photoshop Elements. Basic computer experience required. No personal laptops. Registration begins 9/30.
Microsoft Word 2007 – Mondays, October 18 & 25, 10am-Noon (Two Part Class). Learn how to create letters, reports and announcements. You will learn how to enter and modify text, set margins, and check spelling. The second class will cover how to insert clipart and pictures, format text, set tabs, apply borders and shading, and insert headers and footers. Typing skills not required. Familiarity with the mouse and keyboard required. No personal laptops. Registration begins 10/4.
Introduction to Gmail - Wednesday, October 27, 12-2pm. Get a free gmail account and learn how to use it to send and receive emails. Must know how to use a mouse, and be able to type. Registration begins 10/13.
Microsoft Excel 2007 – Mondays, November 8 & 15, 10am-noon (Two Part Class). Learn how to create an Excel spreadsheet by entering text, numbers, and formulas, formatting the spreadsheet, and setting it up for printing. The second class will cover making bar charts, advanced formatting and calculations. Basic computer experience required. No personal laptops. Registration begins 10/25.
PowerPoint 2007 – Wednesdays, November 17 & December 1, 2-4pm (Two Part Class). Learn how to create your first PowerPoint presentation. We will create slides, add themes and images, learn how to manipulate layouts and prep for your first presentations! Basic computer experience required. Registration begins 11/3.
Scanning and Burning - Thursday, December 2, 1-3pm. Learn how to scan images, do simple image editing, scan to Word and burn your files to a CD. This class will be taught as a demonstration. Registration begins 11/18.
Securing your Computer – Tuesday, December 14, 3-5pm. Would you like to know how to keep our computer as safe as possible from hackers and viruses? Are you worried that using the Internet will make you susceptible to identity theft or put your family at risk? Attend this class to find out how to protect your computer! Registration begins 11/30.
