ABOUT FRIENDS

Funds from our used book sales, special events and your donations go toward much needed programming, equipment, and services at the Brighton District Library. Some of our past and current acheivements include:

FUNDRAISING EVENTS

Used Book Sales:

Book Nook: There is always an ongoing book sale in the "Book Nook" across from the Circulation Desk along with special overstock sales. Check the link to the sale calendar for information. In addition, the Friends sponsor two large book sales in the spring and fall of each year.

Spring 2008 Used Book Sale

  • Wednesday, March 12; 6-9pm - Friends Only Pre-sale ( memberships may be purchased at the door).
  • Thursday, March 13; 10am-9pm - General Sale
  • Friday, March 14; 10am-5pm - General Sale
  • Saturday, March 15; 10am-5pm - Bag Day
  • Sunday, March 16; 1-4pm - Free Book Day (All left over stock is free, does not include items from the Book Nook)

Fall 2008 Used Book Sale

  • Wednesday, September 17; 6-9pm - Friends Only Pre-sale ( memberships may be purchased at the door).
  • Thursday, September 18; 10am-9pm - General Sale
  • Friday, September 19; 10am-5pm - General Sale
  • Saturday, September 20; 10am-5pm - Bag Day
  • Sunday, September 21; 1-4pm - Free Book Day (All left over stock is free, does not include items from the Book Nook)
Book sales are made up of gently-used, donated books. Donations are welcome but we're running out of room! Donations are accepted on Monday & Wednesday only. If you are bringing in more than 3 large bags or boxes please call and leave a message. 810-229-6571, x211.We do not accept Reader's Digest Condensed, National Geographic magazines, encyclopedia sets before 1995 or moldy, smelly, water damaged books.

MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

  • Opening night for our used book sales is exclusive to Friends Members. Just show your membership card at the door.
  • Your Friends dues and contributions may be tax deductible to the extent provided by law.
  • Your membership card can be used for discounts at the participating sponsors.
