Circulation Policy
Section I -- Eligibility for a
Library Card
A. All residents of the district are eligible for
a card at no charge.
B. Other individuals eligible for a card at no
charge are:
1. Residents residing in an area served by a library which participates
in reciprocity with BDL.
2. Persons living outside the district, but owning property or
a business within the district.
3. Persons living outside the district, but employed by a business
or organization within the district
C. Individuals who will
be charged for a card:
1. Anyone living in a library service area
that is not reciprocal with BDL.
2. Anyone living in an area not served by a public library.
Section II -- Circulation of
Materials
A. All the following items may be checked out with the
limits as stated:
1. Books--unlimited number, four week circulation
period.
2. New Books and Media Kits--unlimited, two week circulation
period.
3. New Books on Tape and CD--five of each, two week circulation
period.
4. Books on Tape and CD--five of each, four week circulation
period.
5. Music CDs--ten, two week circulation period.
6. CD-ROMs--five, two week circulation period.
7. Videos and DVDs--five of each, one week circulation period.
8. Magazines--ten (two per title), one week circulation period.
9. Encyclopedias--two per family, two week circulation period.
B. Renewals--Most items may
be renewed a maximum of two times. No renewals are allowed
on any item that is on reserve
for another patron.
Section III--Fines
A. Fines shall be charged
on overdue materials in the following amounts:
1. 10 cents per day for all adult materials.
2. 5 cents per day for most children's materials. Children's media kits and new materials have 10 cents per day fines.
3. Maximum fine fine per patron's account will be twenty-five
dollars ($25.00), at which time privileges will be suspended.
B. Borrowers will be charged the full price of all
materials deemed to be damaged beyond repair or lost. Processing fee may also be assessed.
