Sensory At Home

Did you attend our “Super Sensory Fun” program this month? Does your child love exploring our sensory activities after story time? Why not do some sensory activities at home? Here are some ideas for creating your own sensory balloons! These balloons are fun for children to create, touch, mold, and they are CLEAN! Sensory balloons keep the mess inside the balloon and off your floor (though we do recommend getting messy too!). Here are some tips for creating your own:

  1. Blow up your balloon and keep it inflated for 60 seconds prior to filling. This will allow you to have more space for goodies.
  2. We recommend buying some sturdier balloons.
  3. Grab a funnel to make filling your balloons much easier.
  4. Encourage your child to participate in creating the sensory balloons with you. They can spoon in the good stuff or hold the funnel. This is a great opportunity to talk with your child to build their vocabulary!

If you’re looking for more sensory fun this summer, check out our “It’s Sense-ational!” program with Ms. Vickie on July 23rd. The morning, 10:15-11:15am, will be for ages 4-6 followed by an afternoon session from 1:00-2:00pm for ages 7-9. We hope to see you there!
