Hog Wild!
Saturday, January 24, 11:00-4:00pm (Room A/B)
In collaboration with our local Harley-Davidson Dealership, the Library will be going “Hog Wild” with Harley safety, clothing, history, crafts and more! No registration required. Open to all ages.

Open play for children and their special adult. Explore new early literacy materials. Read, play, and learn together. It's easy as ABC! Registration required . Ages infant-5 years.

Teen Writer's Workshop
Thursday, January 8, 6:00-8:00pm (Brighton Room) - Poets, Songwriters, Storytellers and Dreamers, bring your original work and thoughts about writing. Meet with Mike Ball, award-winning humorist. Teens 6-12th Grade. Drop-ins welcome.

YA.PA.MA. Book Club
Monday, January 19, 6:30-7:45pm (Room A/B) - A fun new book discussion group for teens and their parents (grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.). Bring your dinner and we'll supply the dessert. Register at the information desk or by calling 810.229.6571 x227. The book for January is Sabriel by Garth Nix. Pick up your copy at the information desk beginning December 15.

Adult Writers' Winter Workshop
Thursday, January 15, 7:00-8:30pm (Conference Room) - If you write novels, short stories, or autobiographical sketches, and you'd like to have them published, attend these workshops facilitated by Mike Ball, award-winning humorist. Feel free to bring a brief sample of your writing; get feedback and tips.

Let's Talk About Shakespeare!
Wednesday, January 21, 7:00-8:30pm (Conference Room) - Rekindle your interest in the Great Bard by attending this discussion group about William Shakespeare and his works. Facilitator: Ron Sakowski.

Art at the Library 10th Anniversary Retrospective Exhibit

To honor the tenth anniversary of the Art at the Library program, a special Retrospective Exhibit will be on display throughout the Library. Many of the artists who helped inaugurate the program a decade ago will greet the public at an artist's reception on Sunday, January 11, 2:00–4:00pm, in the Library Reading Room. 

Recent works by nearly a dozen artists in a wide variety of media will be on display from January 9 - February 27, 2009.

Art at the Library is a juried series of two and three-dimensional art exhibitions. Artists must be adult residents of the state of Michigan. The Series is a collaborative endeavor between the Brighton Art Guild and the Friends of the Brighton District Library.
